Saskatoon Meals Financial institution nears vacation donation objective – Saskatoon

The Saskatoon Food Bank said they are sending an urgent request before Christmas.

The organization said it sees people from all walks of life every day, and the holiday season is especially difficult for those who are hungry and poor.

Laurie O’Connor, the food bank’s executive director, said she saw more and more people turning to the nonprofit for assistance.

The Saskatoon Food Bank has set itself “big” goals for the holiday season

“This time of year families struggle to stay warm, make good gifts for their children, and bring nutritious food to the table,” O’Connor said in a statement.

“This Christmas season we call on our community to get involved and unite against hunger.”

The food bank said it provides around 20,000 of its emergency grocery basket program every month, nearly half of which are children.

O’Connor said they needed public support to support programs and services in the community.

“Hunger affects us all,” said O’Connor.

“It could meet our neighbors across the street or a student at the next desk to see our child.”

The Saskatoon Food Bank is in the middle of its big fundraising season.

With just over a week to go to the end of the campaign, staff said they were nearing their goal of $ 500,000 and £ 500,000 of food.

The Saskatoon Food Bank will stay open until noon on Christmas Eve.
