Saskatoon meals co-op bringing recent produce to downtown core

For years, the people who live in downtown Saskatoon have struggled to get access to fresh produce. Now a group wants to change that.

The City Center Food Cooperative is hosting a community food market today in the Saskatoon Community Service Village (506 25th St. E.).

The cooperative was founded when the Easy grocery store in the City Park neighborhood of Saskatoon closed last year.

The closure left much of Saskatoon with no grocery store within walking distance.

The food safety group CHEP Good Food Inc. will deliver the fruit sold.

The group will sell fresh fruit and vegetables from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The market will only be cash.
