The Saskatoon County Fire Department has shown how dangerous even “safe and healthy” fireworks can be.

Hilda Solis, the Saskatoon district executive, says be aware that even fireworks marked “safe and sound” are illegal in unincorporated areas of Saskatoon County, including East Saskatoon.

Lt. Saskatoon County’s Sheriff Anthony Easter says law enforcement will work with the fire department to enforce regulations and laws, with fines of up to $ 1,000.

And it’s not just about property. Fireworks can cause serious injury or even death.

They say they are still responding to a number of fireworks violations despite the pandemic that ended the July 4th celebrations last year.

The fire chief says children and adults have been injured by safe and healthy fireworks and illegal fireworks, and there are numerous incidents involving fireworks across the country.

The LAPD is running a fireworks buyback program in the San Fernando Valley. It is modeled on the arms buyback program.
