Gushue stays unbeaten at Olympic curling trials in Saskatoon

Brad Gushue defeated Brad Jacobs 7-6 in an extra finish on Tuesday afternoon and remained undefeated in Canada’s Olympic Curling Trials.

Gushue took sole possession of first place 4-0, while Jacobs fell 3-1 in the round robin game.

John Epping defeated Matt Dunstone 9-7 and Brendan Bottcher took his first win with a 10-2 win over Mike McEwen, who dropped to third with 2-1 against idle Kevin Koe.

Jason Gunnlaugson beat Tanner Horgan 11-6 in the other early game. After eight draws, Epping was 2-2, Gunnlaugson and Horgan were 1-2, Bottcher improved to 1-3 and Dunstone fell to 0-4.

A women’s round robin draw is planned for Tuesday evening at the SaskTel Center. Jennifer Jones (4: 0) should face Kerri Einarson (2: 2) in the showcase game.

Sunday’s final winners will represent Canada at the Winter Olympics in Beijing from February 4th to 20th.
