According to the Saskatoon County Sheriff, 28-year-old Sandra Chico is charged with killing 4-year-old Mia Camila Rodriguez, 3-year-old Mason Mater Rodriguez and 1-month-old Milan Mateas Rodriguez.
“There was no warning,” said Sheriff Alex Villanueva. “There was no repeat call for service. DCFS was not involved. There were no allegations of child abuse. That was a tragedy out of the blue. “
MPs were first called to the house on the 600 block on Ferris Avenue at around 12:45 p.m. Monday for reports of two children who had stopped breathing.
When the MPs arrived, they found the three children unresponsive in a bedroom. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Chico was taken into custody for questioning.
The officers did not immediately disclose the cause of death of the children.
In Spanish, the children’s grandmother said that Chico suffered from depression and never left the house. On Tuesday, neighbors dropped flowers on a growing memorial.
A GoFundMe page was created to help cover the cost of a funeral for the children.
Chico was held on bail of $ 2 million. She is on trial on Wednesday.
