Saskatoon Soaps Improv Comedy launches its 38th season on Friday at Broadway Theater at 8 pm In a head-to-head competition, Team Red and Team Blue compete for improv supremacy. The audience will be the judge and choose a winning team. Learn more at broadwaytheatre.ca.

2 — Celebrate Saskatchewan with a fall concert

Barn Playhouse starts their season with a fall concert. Vickie Dyck and Co. take you on a Saskatchewan road trip with music and stories inspired by people and places in the province. Meals before the performances are provided by Country Style BBQ. The concert runs Friday at 7 pm and Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 pm Learn more at barnplayhouse.com.

3 — Take in the annual literacy festival

The Word on the Street Festival celebrates the joy of reading this weekend. The festival features author readings in a variety of genres, Tonight It’s Poetry with AXIS and an open mic, an exhibitors’ market and an online poetry panel. Events are held Saturday and Sunday at The Refinery, Cosmo Seniors Center and online over Zoom. Learn more at thewordonthestreet.ca.

4 — Walk a historic trail

The Saskatoon Heritage Society hosts a walking tour of the Moose Jaw Trail. This trail was used before the railway arrived, as early settlers traveled from Moose Jaw to Saskatoon. Visit the site of the trail, where wagon ruts can still be seen, and listen to stories of Saskatoon’s early pioneers. 5 — Check out a sculpture show

Prairie Sculptors’ Association celebrates its 40th anniversary with a sculpture show. Founded in 1982 by 10 sculptors, the organization feature artists from across the province and celebrates prairie art. The sculpture show features about 50 sculptures on a variety of subjects. The celebration runs to Sept. 22 in the Galleria Building at Innovation Place, weekdays from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 pm Learn more at prairiesculptors.com.
