COVID-19: Hours scaling again at drive-thru testing web site in Saskatoon – Saskatoon

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) says it will reduce hours at the drive-through COVID-19 test site in Saskatoon next week.

Starting July 19th on Thatcher Ave. 3630 the weekday times will be changed from 8.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. to 12 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. The weekend times remain on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

SHA said this will allow it to better meet current testing needs and redeploy staff to meet other requirements within the system, including vaccinations and mobile testing capabilities.

“Tests remain a very important tool in the COVID-19 response, and the new opening hours of the drive-through location will meet the expected demand for tests,” said a SHA statement on Friday.

“With questionable variants widespread in the county and province, the SHA will continue to monitor test demand in Saskatoon and readjust operating hours as demand increases.”

According to the press release, 1,573 COVID-19 tests were carried out in Saskatchewan on Thursday. So far, 941,407 tests have been carried out in the province.

Of the 380 active cases across the province, 53 are in the Saskatoon Zone.
