The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to house and deck fires on Saturday evening

At 8:13 a.m., the fire department received a call about a burning one-story building in Block 3400 on 33rd Street West.

The first crews to arrive arrived at the scene at 8:18 a.m. and reported that one house was completely on fire and the fire spread to houses on both sides.

The fire department was reported that all residents of the houses had safely escaped. The Salvation Army helped residents in urgent need.

Three engines, a ladder truck, a heavy rescue unit and the battalion chief were dispatched.

More firefighters were called in to help with the extinguishing work.

Utilities were shut down and SaskEnergy and electrical crews were called in for additional safety and on-site support.

The fire was brought under control at 9:38 a.m.

Two fire investigators and the police investigator were called in to investigate the cause and the scene of the crime.

At the time this article was published, no damage assessment was available.

The fire department announced that a battalion chief and an entire crew of four additional firefighters had been called to work to operate a reserve device in a fire station during this incident.

“Firefighters and fire trucks on duty were strategically relocated during this incident to provide adequate resources for the rest of our community,” a press release said.

Civilians or firefighters were not injured. A firefighter told a Global News photographer that they were still looking for a cat on Sunday morning.
